Here are some pictures of today's dedication of the USS Juneau Memorial Center. It was an honor to be there and I was humbled to meet so many Juneau crewmen families. Joann Northgrave did a wonderful job. I'm sure the boys were looking upon all of us with approval.
I see the spirit that these young men possessed. I seen it in the faces of their families. With determination, drive and a bond between members that can't be broken, I see how that generation took on half the world, and won. For that I thank each and everyone of you.

My wife and I donated 17 letters written by William Meeker, Jr. to my mother in-law during the time he was deployed with the USS Juneau. We donated them to a museum in Juneau, Alaska.

Eugene was my Dad. William's Wife was my Grandmothers Sister. I just got a VA gravestone for William's Grave. He was in the Army in WWI. I went to the Harrison, NJ Memorial Day Ceremony this year. Billy's name is on the monument. Town where we all grew up. Your comment will be posted after it is approved.
